Summer is a founding attorney of the bankruptcy boutique law firm, Shaw & Hanover, PC, which serves all of Southern California. She represents creditors and debtors in chapter 7, 11 (including confirmation of the first consensual Sub V 11’a before one of the Courts she practices before), 12 and 13 bankruptcy proceedings and litigation, including trustee representation, involuntary bankruptcy defense and Ponzi scheme representation. Summer was extremely honored to receive the 2018 NACBA Distinguished Service award, and among other things, served as the President and the Program Chair of the Inland Empire Bankruptcy Forum, was the Consumer Program co-chair for the Annual California Bankruptcy Forum Conference in 2016 and 2019, has served as a professor of bankruptcy law at the California Desert Trial Academy, and was named a 2017 Top 40 under 40 by the American Bankruptcy Institute. Summer also volunteers at the Central District of California’s Pro Se Clinic and Veteran’s Legal Institute whenever she can and has litigated several appeals in the 9th and 10th Circuit Court of Appeals as well as in the Central District Court of California. Summer is a graduate of the University of California, Riverside, received her JD from Western State College of Law, and is a State Bar of California, Certified Specialist in Bankruptcy Law.
