David Yen recently retired from a 40 year career as a legal aid attorney, representing clients in civil cases, first as a generalist, and then for the last 20 years he specialized in the rights of consumers, especially in bankruptcy matters.  In May 2010 he received the Seventh Circuit Bar Association pro bono and public service award for work in the United States Bankruptcy Courts in the Seventh Circuit. He successfully represented Todd and Christina Lamont against a creditor who contested the debtors' right to save their home from a forced sale for delinquent property taxes. In re Lamont, 740 F.3d 397 (7th Cir. 2014). He is a Board Member of the National Consumer Bankruptcy Rights Center and has assisted in writing amicus briefs filed in several Courts of Appeals. David graduated from the University of Pennsylvania Law School in 1975. He has practiced in New York, Alabama, and Illinois.
